Hi! I’m Rowena Buehler, I’m a wife, dancer, amateur aerial artist, dog mom, and an Ambassador for Libertas International.

I have lived in Star Valley for 9 years! I graduated from SVHS where I met my husband. We’ve been adulting together for 6 years and have been married for 3! I’m so blessed to have the opportunity to represent the wonderful people in our community and our way of life. Star Valley has taught me about the importance of family, community, and personal growth. I love Star Valley and I’m proud to represent our wonderful home; and some of the most resilient, gritful, hardworking people I know.

About Me

I am proud to advocate for those who are human trafficked. When I was 13 years old I lived in Thailand and a man offered to marry me. The reality was that I would marry this person in exchange for something; cows, money, etc. From someone looking in it can seem that this is just a cultural difference. A year later when I attended an assembly about Human Trafficking I learned that this isn’t the case. It’s normalized, yes; but not for the reasons you think. Most people don’t know that the majority of children sold into Human Trafficking are done by desperate parents. Had this situation gone a different way, I very easily could’ve ended up never returning home. Knowing that 1.2 million children are trafficked each year, I ache for the victims of Human Trafficking. This compels me to use my voice for those who can't. I believe everyone deserves a life where they are cherished, not exploited.

I’ll be using my platform to inform and advocate for change with the cooperation of Libertas International. I’ll be working with Tyler Schwab on spreading awareness about this industry. The way we stop this is by preventing it; and by helping those who have survived it. We must work on educating about the signs to look for, bringing awareness that any child is in danger, that it can happen anywhere; even in the victim’s home, and providing survivors with tools for physical, mental, and emotional healing.
